Celtic are already believed to be on the verge of a deal for Alistair Johnston of CF Montreal and a move is expected to take place after the conclusion of Canada’s World Cup campaign. The defender has impressed at the tournament and could very well be the Hoops’ replacement for Josip Juranovic, who is rumoured to be on his way out. He is not the only player shining in Qatar that Ange Postecoglou appears to have an eye on though.

Recently, rumours broke out that Celtic have failed to agree a new deal with Giorgos Giakoumakis and as a result, the Greek striker could leave the club in January itself.

Giakoumakis is a key part of this squad though, and a regular feature in the starting XI. Thus, it would not be ideal for the Hoops to lose a player of such importance in the middle of the campaign, as they try to win the league for the second year running.

And if he did end up leaving after all, they would need to bring in a replacement for Giakoumakis at first for sure, before even considering an exit. And it looks like they have their eyes set on someone who has been shining brightly at the World Cup despite South Korea’s disappointing campaign till now.

Celtic have another World Cup sensation on their radar

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic have joined the race to sign Cho Gue-sung. Several other European clubs are believed to be keen to land him in January though.

Cho got his name up in the lights by scoring twice against Ghana but that went in vain as they lost 3-2. It was an impressive performance nonetheless.

Cho has been in rich goalscoring form at club level as well. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 21 goals in 35 appearances for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors this season.
