Interesting £5 million-plus Celtic transfer claim made

Celtic have done a wonderful job of assembling their squad since the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as manager. It is safe to say that the Australian has spread his net further and wider, than it had been at the club in the past, and that has led to them discovering some hidden gems. But the fact of the matter is that some of them were always bound to leave after finding success in the Hoops.

Josip Juranovic appears to be one such player. Recent rumours have suggested that the club failed to agree a contract extension with the Croatian and while there is still quite some time left on his current deal, he is expected to head out after the World Cup when his transfer value is expected to be at its highest.

Celtic were believed to have shelled out a transfer fee around £2.5 million to sign him from Legia Warsaw in the summer of 2021, but they should expect to fetch a much higher figure than that.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are confident of agreeing a £5million-plus January deal for Juranovic.

One would think that a transfer fee which is anywhere even close to £5 million would have to be considered as low for someone like Juranovic.

Juranovic has been a starter for Celtic since he has arrived and played a key part in their successes under the management of Postecoglou. He is achieving success at the international level as well though and is starting for Croatia at the World Cup.

On top of that, clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid have been linked with the full-back in recent times. Thus, one could expect a transfer fee closer to £15 million for Juranovic, rather than the £5 million-plus figure being mentioned.

Of course, technically speaking, even £15 million would fall under the £5 million-plus category.
