Celtic have made a fast start to their January transfer business. The club have already announced the signing of Yuki Kobayashi, who will not be able to play before January but can start training with his new teammates from December. On the other hand, a move for Alistair Johnston is believed to be in the final stages as well and should be done once Canada’s World Cup campaign comes to an end after the group stages.

Of course, that might not be the end of Celtic’s transfer business for January as the club have shown the habit of cropping up a surprise here and there, since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager.

One player that they have been linked with several times over the years is Mohamed Magdy, popularly known as Afsha, who currently plays for Al Ahly.

The Egyptian attacking midfielder is very highly rated and at 26 years of age, he is entering his prime as well. But it looks like Celtic will have to shell out the big bucks if they want to sign him.

As reported by Aljarida (via 67 Hail Hail), the Egyptian champions believe a fee of €5 million ($5 million) would be a fair asking price for Afsha.

It goes without saying that that would be a significant transfer fee for Celtic to pay out for a player and at the moment, it is hard to see them shelling out that kind of a figure in the middle of the campaign despite Afsha’s undeniable quality.

As a result, one would be sceptical of Celtic making a move of this magnitude for the Egyptian international, especially in January, although he does seem to be a player that the Hoops have held an interest in for quite some time now.
