Celtic could do with another striker right now. The club have two terrific options in Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis, both fan favourites who have proven themselves. At the same time though, one has to admit that neither man has looked on top form this season and missed a number of chances in front of goal.
Overall, it is finishing that has let Celtic down on a number of occasions and has led to matches being much closer than they normally would be, and them having to depend on moments of magic late on as a result. Of course, the players have produced in those difficult situation but it is not ideal for the Bhoys to end up in them time after time.
Thus, Celtic should potentially add another striker to the mix in January, not only to act as a source of goals but also in hopes that his presence would raise the games of Kyogo and Giakoumakis as well. And it appears that they have a Championship forward in their eyes.
As reported by Football League World, Celtic and Rangers are waiting in the wings as Sunderland are ready to part ways with Ross Stewart if he does not agree a contract extension soon.
Celtic and Rangers waiting in the wings for Sunderland striker
Stewart was a huge part of Sunderland getting promoted back to the Championship last season as he ended up scoring 26 goals overall.
This time around, he had made a very bright start to the campaign in the English second division before suffering an injury that has kept him out since September.
It goes without saying that he has been a man in form in front of goal though and as a result, it is not hard to see why Celtic might be interested in a cut-price deal or even potentially a free transfer.
