After days of speculation, Michael Beale has been appointed as the new manager of the Rangers. Steven Gerrard’s former right-hand man will be replacing Giovanni van Bronckhorst in the Ibrox hot seat. And it is safe to say that he has a tough job on his hands, with Celtic leading the league by nine points with just 15 Premiership games played till now.

In terms of experience, Beale does not have a lot under his belt as a manager either. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he managed QPR in 22 games, with his record standing at 9 wins, 9 losses and 4 draws.

When he left the club, QPR were sitting at 7th in the Championship table, and were on a winless run of five games, having lost four of them.

He has coaching experience with the Rangers though, as he was part of Gerrard’s backroom team, and many even believed that he was the tactical mastermind behind their Premiership triumph a couple of years back. One cannot forget though that that is the only trophy that they won in three years. Thus, Celtic fans do not seem to be overly concerned about Beale’s appointment.

Celtic fans react to Rangers appointing Beale as manager

Celtic fans reacted on Twitter to the Rangers’ announcement of Beale as their manager:

While Celtic fans might not be concerned about the appointment of Beale, at the same time, it is important to not take him lightly either.

We all remember the reaction that Ange Postecoglou got when he arrived and just see how that has turned out since then.

Thus, Celtic must continue to rack up the points and prepare to face the best version of the Rangers moving forward. If they fall short of that, that is their problem. But the Hoops must be prepared for the worst case scenario.
