Celtic have shown incredible efficiency in the transfer market in recent times. It is hard to believe that this is the same club which had a reputation for dragging their heels when it came to making signings. Now, they are completing deals for the January window in November itself, with a move for Yuki Kobayashi already announced. The Japanese centre-back is free to join training from December and play competitively from next year.

Kobayashi does not look like the only defender that Celtic will be signing this January though. Josip Juranovic is rumoured to be on his way out after the World Cup and in a major hint that that will indeed be the case, the Hoops are closing in on a right-back.

As tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano, Celtic have reached a verbal agreement with CF Montreal to sign Alistair Johnston on a permanent deal. Now the wait is over the final details.

Johnston recently starred for the Canadian national team, as they outplayed Belgium at the World Cup and were unlucky to lose, as they could not take their chances in front of goal.

With all of the news that is coming out over the last few days, it feels like a move for Johnston will be taking place soon and is only a matter of time.

Johnston has been one of the best defenders in the MLS in recent times and is capable of playing both as a right-back and as a centre-back. That kind of versatility can go a long way for Celtic as well, with the amount of injury problems that they have had to deal with in recent times.

It remains to be seen if or when a deal for Johnston gets over the line and what kind of a transfer fee Celtic will be shelling out.
