Celtic have shown a tremendous eye for talent ever since they have appointed Ange Postecoglou as the manager of the club. Recruitment had been a weakness for the club before that and one of the biggest reasons behind their unexpected collapse in the 2020/21 campaign. But since then, the turnaround has been impressive to say the least.

In such a short span of time under the management of Postecoglou, the club have already been able to discover key players like Jota, Kyogo, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate, Josip Juranovic, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and several others, who have become nailed on starters for the Hoops.

That is impressive to say the very least and if recent rumours are anything to go by, then the club could be on to another winner in the form of Alistair Johnston.

It is believed that Celtic are closing in on a move for Johnston, who currently plays for CF Montreal in the MLS and the Canadian national team. It must be pointed out that the timing of the rumours is interesting because Juranovic has been linked with a Parkhead exit after the World Cup.

While it is still not known what kind of a transfer fee it would take to sign Johnston, he is rated at €6 million by Transfermarkt.

Someone like Johnston could be an excellent addition to this Celtic side and a perfect fit for both Postecoglou’s style of football and the Scottish Premiership as a whole as well.

He is the kind of player who is good on both sides of the game, whether it is finding a pass or the occasional goal going forward and defend tenaciously at the back. The Canadian international is just the kind of player that you would associate with a Postecoglou team.
