Rangers are looking for a new manager after showing Giovanni van Bronckhorst the exit door, as they hope to catch up with Celtic in the Premiership, with the Hoops leading by nine points at the moment. Michael Beale has emerged as the frontrunner in the race for the Ibrox job in recent weeks though.

Beale was part of Steven Gerrard’s coaching team at the club and has taken on his first managerial job at QPR in recent times.

The club made a decent start to the season but have seen hit a few roadblocks. They are winless in the last five games, losing four of them, with three being on the trot. Suggestions have been that QPR will not stand in the way if Beale wants to leave, while rumours suggest that he is open to the idea of managing the Rangers.

That is interesting though as it is believed that Beale turned down the chance to manage Wolves not too long ago. And as reported by talkSPORT, he had told the club’s media:

"“One thing for sure is that Wolves is a fantastic football club, they’re a historic football club. It was a real privilege to be asked to go and speak to them, but I didn’t think it was the right moment as I entered into an agreement here.“Integrity is a real big thing for me and loyalty. You don’t give it to receive it back, but if those are the things you live by then at times when you are put in a position you have to be strong by them.“I don’t think we are anywhere near where I want QPR to be as a group. I’m enjoying working with them, we’ve got a lot to do, but I’m excited by it.“There’s going to be some bumps in the road, but I’ve been all in here and I’ve asked other people to be all in.“So I can’t be the first person to run away from he ship.”"

Celtic fans left amused by Beale’s viral comments as he is linked with Rangers job

Those comments were made by Beale a little over a month ago. Now, it remains to be seen if he will end up leaving QPR for the Rangers or not.

Nothing is official yet and Beale has not been appointed the manager of the Ibrox club. But all the rumours seem to point towards him being the leading candidate for the job.

Of course, Celtic will not be too worried about the matter. They already have a top manager in charge in the form of Ange Postecoglou, who has turned the club around in a short period of time and they now find themselves nine points clear at the top. Beale or whoever the next Rangers boss is, will have a mountain to climb.
