When Ange Postecoglou arrived as the manager of Celtic, many were unsure about his credentials for the Parkhead job. Some even went on to predict that the Australian would be gone by Christmas of that year. Well, he has managed to outlast two Rangers bosses, and a third is set to be appointed soon, with the Hoops nine points ahead of the Ibrox club in the Premiership title race.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst showed a lot of promise for the Rangers last season, winning the Scottish Cup and reaching the Europa League final. But this time around, it seemed like the Dutch manager had run out of ideas, as his side continued to struggle for results.

The worst ever Champions League group stage campaign in history and falling nine points behind Celtic in the league was enough to convince the Rangers board that it was time for change in the managerial hot seat.

Recently, Steven Gerrard had looked like the favourite to make a return to Ibrox. But now, somebody else seems to have take the lead over him.

New favourite emerges for Rangers job in hopes to stop Celtic from another league triumph

As reported by The Scotsman, bookmakers McBookie have Michael Beale as the favourite to become the next Rangers manager at 4/6.

Beale was part of Gerrard’s coaching staff at Ibrox and he has since taken his first steps in management, and currently finds himself at QPR. It is even believed that he recently turned down the chance to manage Wolves in the Premier League.

It remains to be seen if Beale will end up making a return to Ibrox or not. If he did, he will certainly have a mountain to climb if he is to even make this title race competitive. Nobody knows what can happen in football though and thus, Celtic cannot rest on their laurels. They have a job to finish in the second half of the season.
