If Scott Brown wanted it, he surely could have gotten a coaching role at the Celtic youth levels before working his way up to senior football. Broony has never been one to take the easy route though and as a result, he now finds himself at English League One side Fleetwood Town, building his reputation as a manager.
Brown enjoyed a legendary career at Celtic and by the time he left for a player-coach role at Aberdeen, his arms must have grown tired with lifting trophies.
Of course, his spell at Aberdeen did not go as he would have hoped and it was a pretty sad end to the playing career of one of the most successful players in Scottish football history.
Brown has not waited long to jump back into the game though, as everybody that has seen and known him over the years would have expected. Now, he finds himself as the manager of Fleetwood Town.
Brown names Celtic star as his dream signing
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, when asked who his dream transfers would, Brown told BBC Scotland:
"“For standards and tempo in training, I would say Callum McGregor. I would take him or Jamesy (Forrest), all day long.“If any of them want to come then it’s an option, lads – a year’s loan. Cal has drive and enthusiasm, I tried to drive everything as much as I could when I knew I was coming to the end, but I was glad when I was leaving they offered Cal the captaincy because he drives training.“He drives standards about the place and wants to be the best he possibly can be.”"
It is safe to say that one would not expect McGregor or Forrest to be playing for Fleetwood Town in League One anytime soon.
McGregor is now the captain of Celtic and has done a wonderful job since being given the armband. Yes, his style of leadership might be very different to the one of Brown, but it has certainly proven effective.
Celtic went on to win the Premiership and League Cup double in his very first season as the full-time captain of the club.
On the other hand, Forrest has seen his role in the team reduce in recent years due to injuries but remains a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, and was handed a long-term extension in the summer.
