Ange Postecoglou must have been happy with the overall performance that Celtic put in against Everton in the Sydney Super Cup. Yes, it was a friendly and Frank Lampard’s team have been struggling in recent times, but at the end of the day, they are Premier League opposition and the Hoops pretty much outplayed them throughout the game.

They dominated the ball and should have won the game over the course of the 90 minutes. But once again, their finishing let them down.

It has been a recurring story throughout the course of the season though, as the likes of Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis have not been at their best in front of goal. They have continued to score due to the sheer amount of chances that they are getting but the efficiency just is not there at the moment.

That has resulted in games being much tighter in recent times while Celtic were running away with results not too long ago. And that is the biggest reason why the club must try to sign a clinical striker in January.

Celtic need to strengthen in one position in January after recent struggles

It is safe to say that both Kyogo and Giakoumakis are brilliant players and they have been two of the shining lights of this team since they have arrived in Glasgow.

Thus, nobody is making a case for them to be replaced. But at the same time, it is important to recognise that just two strikers is not enough, when it comes to such a gruelling schedule of games.

Celtic would have needed to bring in another forward, even if they were playing at their best, because there is always the risk of injuries. And now with their inefficient performances in front of goal, that need has become more urgent.
