Celtic received a Scottish record transfer fee of £25 million, when Kieran Tierney left his boyhood club in the summer of 2019 in order to join Premier League giants, Arsenal. That stands to this day and nobody has really come close to breaking it. Yet, one Hoops youngster has been tipped to blow it out of the water when he departs Parkhead in the future.

Ange Postecoglou has shown a brilliant eye for talent, discovering a whole host of new stars since arriving as Celtic manager. Over his first two transfer windows in the Parkhead hot seat, the club signed players like Kyogo, Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate and more.

The biggest transfer masterstroke that Celtic have pulled off in recent times though is signing Matt O’Riley from English League One club, MK Dons, for a transfer fee believed to be around £1.5 million.

O’Riley has become a regular starter for the club since then though and already been linked with clubs like Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Leicester City, Borussia Dortmund and others. And as reported by This is Futbol, while speaking on The Celtic Way YouTube channel, Sean Martin said:

"“Everything just mounts up with Matt O’Riley where I just don’t see a world – barring serious, serious injury – where he does not blow that Kieran Tierney Scottish transfer record out of the water.”"

It goes without saying that O’Riley has been very, very impressive since joining Celtic and it is hard to believe that he is still just 21 years of age.

He is already a bit of an undroppable in Postecoglou’s side and the understanding is that sooner or later, he will get a big move away from Parkhead. Fans will be hoping that that day does not come too soon, but at the same time, the feeling is that it is inevitable.

Considering the types of clubs believed to be interested in the Danish youth international, it would not come as a major surprise if a transfer bid higher than £25 million arrives on Celtic’s table, if a tug-of-war starts off between the Premier League giants.
