Jota might arguably be the most important player in the current Celtic side. The difference between when he plays and when he does not is clear for everybody to see and one can only wonder if the Champions League campaign would have turned out differently, if the Portuguese star had not missed so many of the games through an injury.
Even then, Jota ended the campaign as Celtic’s top scorer in Europe with two goals. They came away at RB Leipzig, and a stunning strike from a free-kick against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Thus, Celtic fans would be hoping that Jota remains at Celtic for as long as possible although one would expect clubs from down South and beyond, try to sign him in the not too distant future if he continues to perform at this level.
He even earned him a place in Portugal’s 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup although not quite making the final cut to be on the plane to Qatar. That shows how far he has come since joining Celtic though.
Celtic superstar tipped for Parkhead exit for bizarre reason
As reported by Football Insider, Frank McAvennie said:
"“I think everyone knows and I think Ange is now looking at Europe rather than the league. He knows he has got the players to win the league now.“He might have to sell Jota to keep Kyogo and Giakoumakis.“It was the first time for the two of them in the Champions League. Now they will be used to it and I can guarantee they will want another taste of it to show the fans that they can do it.“You can never tell with Ange, he brings them out from left field and turns them into wonders.“"
Why exactly would Postecoglou need to part ways with Jota in order to keep Kyogo and Giakoumakis, when all three of them are already at the club and have long-term deals as well, although it is believed that the Hoops are in talks with the Greek star over an extension.
But even then, it is not like Jota plays up front like the two of them, and how would him leaving help either of them, unless they undergo a positional change and become a winger?
Yes, it is possible that Celtic would have to let Jota go, if a mega transfer bid came in for him, but they already have someone like Sead Haksabanovic, who is starting to make his mark.
