Celtic will be looking to defend the Scottish League Cup this time around, having lifted it in the previous campaign, thanks to a brace from Kyogo Furuhashi in the final to seal a comeback 2-1 win over Hibernian. It is funny how much things have changed since then and it has not even been a year.

At that point of time, Celtic were considered as the heavy underdogs, with the Rangers expected to easily defend the Premiership. Thus, the League Cup triumph was considered as a bit of surprise and a huge bonus for Ange Postecoglou. Back then, there were still big doubts over the Australian manager and his credentials for the Parkhead job.

Now, he is a cult favourite amongst the Celtic fans, led them to a Premiership and League Cup double last season.

The Hoops are leading the league by nine points at this moment, while they have booked their place in the League Cup semi-finals, where they will be taking on Kilmarnock at Hampden Park. The club have released some information about that game.

Celtic make announcement about League Cup semi-final vs Kilmarnock

As reported by Celtic’s official website, ticketing information for the League Cup semi-final against Kilmarnock is now available with tickets going on sale on Thursday, November 17 at 10am. The match will kick off at 5:30pm at Hampden Park on Saturday, January 14.

It goes without saying that this tournament will always be very special to Postecoglou, as it was his first piece of silverware in Scotland, and in European football as well.

It was the night that most fans first truly believed that the manager was capable of taking the club back to the top of the Scottish game. But even then, not many could have imagined that that would happen by the end of that very campaign.
