With the World Cup break now upon us, Celtic players and fans can finally take a breather, after what has been a non-stop first half to the season. The Hoops’ Champions League campaign might have been a bit of a disappointing, with their good performances not rewarded, as they only managed two points from their group. But in domestic competitions, Ange Postecoglou’s side are off to a flying start.

Celtic currently sit nine points ahead of the Rangers in the Premiership after just 15 games. On the other hand, they have booked their place in the Scottish League Cup semi-final, where they will take on Kilmarnock.

Now, the Hoops have the Sydney Super Cup to look forward to, where they will take on Frank Lampard’s Everton in a glamour friendly as well as Sydney FC, in two games Down Under, a country were the club’s popularity has grown since the arrival of Postecoglou.

The eyes of the world will be on Qatar though, with the FIFA World Cup up for grabs, this being the last dance for legends of the game like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and many others. There seems to be some Celtic flavour to the tournament as well though.

As reported by the Daily RecordJackson Irvine reported for World Cup duty with the Australian national team sporting a retro Celtic kit in honour of Mark Viduka.

Many will remember that Irvine spent time in the Celtic youth system in the past and even appeared for the first-team, although he never went on to establish himself as a star at Parkhead.

He went on to have a fine career though and has been a regular for Australia. Its good to see him remember his Celtic roots and we wish him a great World Cup ahead of him.
