We might be just 15 games into the Premiership season but Celtic seem to be running away with it. At this point of time, the Hoops are 9 points ahead of their Glasgow rivals, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst seems to be a manager who is quickly running out of ideas as he tries to stop the slide that the Ibrox club have been on for this entire season now.
Celtic managed to get a comeback win against Ross County while the Rangers could only salvage a draw against St Mirren, that also thanks to a late penalty. The results meant that the Hoops are now 9 points ahead, as players head for the World Cup. If they don’t drop more than 8 points in the second half of the campaign, they are guaranteed to retain their title.
Naturally, there have been questions asked about the future of Van Bronckhorst at Ibrox, considering the downslide that the club have been in for a while now. And now, there seems to be trouble behind the scenes as well.
It looks like Van Bronckhorst had a disagreement with Glen Kamara after the game against St Mirren. Citing The Athletic, a report from the Daily Record goes on to read:
"The Athletic report that Kamara “was in the foyer fully dressed after being hooked at half-time and stood in the tunnel area sporting his sponsored Red Bull beanie hat”. They add that “as the second half went on he was waiting in the foyer with his tracksuit on” before “watching from the tunnel”.Things appeared to boil over at the full-time whistle with the report suggesting “a disagreement occurred between both at full time”. Kamara has been used sparingly by the Dutchman so far this term, having also been hampered by injury problems."
Celtic handed another title boost as the Rangers find themselves in behind the scenes troubles
It remains to be seen if the Rangers will decide to show Van Bronckhorst the exit door during the World Cup break and bring in a new manager or not.
Even if they do decide to do that, the gap might already be beyond them and the title race might be as good as over. A lot of their own fans have started to give up. It will be interesting to see what the club decides to do next, as new rumours break out about the Ibrox side everyday at the moment.
No matter what happens at Ibrox, Celtic’s job moving forward is to continue racking up the wins and points, as they have been doing till now.
