Celtic’s appointment of Ange Postecoglou in 2021 has proven to be a masterstroke. The club had chased Eddie Howe for months before the Englishman decided to turn down the opportunity to come to Parkhead. It was a terrible position for the Hoops to be in, with the new season fast approaching by then. Amidst all the pressure, the board decided to go with the former Australia national team boss.

It was not the most popular decision to say the least. It was the first top flight club that Postecoglou was going to manage in Europe. Many raised questions about his credentials for the Celtic job.

There are no more doubters now. A Premiership and League Cup double in his debut campaign has been followed by a nine point lead in the Premiership this time around.

Clubs down south have certainly taken notice. Postecoglou was heavily linked with the Brighton & Hove Albion job when Graham Potter left for Chelsea. And later on, Wolverhampton Wanderers as well. Now, it seems that another Premier League club holds an interest in the Australian.

As reported by Alan Nixon (via Glasgow Times), Everton could turn to Postecoglou if they ended up showing Frank Lampard the exit door. The board is believed to have been impressed by his impact in Scotland as well as the attacking style of football that his team plays.

Everton might be one of the biggest teams in England, but they have been in a terrible spot for a while. Lampard was barely able to save them from relegation last time around, but this season, they once again find themselves trying to avoid the drop.

With the turnaround that Postecoglou achieved at Celtic, it is not hard to see why they might be interested. Yet, it is hard to see it happening.
