Today, we saw the difference between Celtic and the Rangers once again. The Hoops fell a goal behind thanks to another penalty being awarded against them. Ange Postecoglou’s side mounted one more comeback though, with goals from David Turnbull and Sead Haksabanovic sealing a 2-1 win and all three points. On the other hand, it took a penalty of their own for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side to rescue a point against St Mirren.

The results of the two Glasgow giants means that Celtic enter the World Cup break with a commanding 9 point advantage over the Rangers.

Of course, we have only played just 15 games and there is plenty of time for the title race to turn on its head. We saw proof of that last season, when it was Postecoglou’s side who came back from a terrible position and eventually won the league by four points.

A lot of the Rangers fans have already started to give up though. In fact, Kris Boyd believes that Van Bronckhorst’s time at Ibrox might very well be over. As reported by the Daily Record, he said while on Sky Sports duty:

"“When you go on this run – they’ve been to St Johnstone and lost, limped over the line against Hearts and drop more points here – the title is over and I’ve got a funny feeling now so is Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s time as Rangers manager. If Rangers had scored a winning goal there it would have papered over the cracks. There’s trouble, there’s no doubt about it. There’s problems in that Rangers dressing room, whatever they may be.”"

It is safe to say that the Rangers are struggling for results right now and Van Bronckhorst is looking like a manager who has run out of ideas and does not know how to turn this thing around for his side.

On the other hand, it is not like Celtic have been firing on all cylinders and the incredibly gruelling schedule has taken its toll on their squad as well. But they are grinding results out at the moment.

That has proven to be the difference between these two sides. Now, it remains to be seen if Van Bronckhorst will be the man on the Ibrox hot seat when we return from the World Cup break.
