Celtic find themselves in a brilliant position right now. While their Champions League campaign might have been disappointing, the Hoops are flying in the league. They are seven points ahead of the Rangers and with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side struggling, they could have an opportunity to increase the gap further before the players head for the World Cup.
That break could have a massive impact on the season though. When club football resumes, the previous form and momentum will be out of the window and it will be like starting from scratch. So Celtic cannot rest on their laurels. The title race is far from over.
The January transfer window could be a great chance for the Hoops to strengthen their squad further. Ange Postecoglou has hinted at more arrivals and the board must be commended for how much they have backed the manager since he joined in the summer of 2021.
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have agreed personal terms with Vissel Kobe centre-back Yuki Kobayashi. The club are now ready to the finalise deal.
Celtic have agreed personal terms for January transfer
There has been some confusion surrounding the potential deal for Kobayashi. Initially, rumours had broken out that Celtic had a deal in place with Vissel Kobe. But since then, there have been suggestions that the defender’s contract runs out in January and he could end up joining as a free agent.
Whatever maybe the case, it is safe to say that Kobayashi has the potential to be a great signing for Celtic and a great fit in Postecoglou’s system.
He has everything that he you would want in a centre-back to play in the current Celtic side. He is good on the ball, can pick out a pass, has good positional awareness, solid aerially and not afraid to make a tackle. It will be interesting to see how that translates to the Scottish game though.
