Most fans would agree that Celtic are in a commanding position when it comes to the Premiership title race. The Hoops are seven points ahead of the Rangers, who have been going through a rough patch, in terms of results as well as performances. That has led to many of the Ibrox supporters call for Giovanni van Bronckhorst to be shown the exit door and bring in someone new to replace him during the World Cup break.

It is guaranteed that Celtic will go into the World Cup break as the league leaders by at least four points. That could end up going up to ten though, depending on how the results go on the final matchday before the players head for their national teams.

It is safe to say that Celtic fans will be happy with the position that the club are in domestically and it might even be better than most people could have expected coming into the season. One has to remember, this was expected to be a very tight title race, after the Rangers had reached the Europa League final and won the Scottish Cup under the management of Van Bronckhorst last season.

One Rangers player does not believe that the seven-point gap is too big for them to overcome though.

Rangers star makes incredible claim about Celtic lead

As reported by the Daily Record, Borna Barisic said about Celtic’s lead over the Rangers:

"“Too big? Nothing is too big. We have seen a lot of things, and everything can change in just a few games. So, I don’t think it’s too big. It’s not small, of course. We cannot go from that. But it’s not that big and I don’t think we need to say now, I don’t know, we are second and that’s it.“That can change in two or three games. We play against them like three times more, right? Everything can change. This World Cup break will be good for us because players will come back and it will much easier to play having a bigger and deeper squad.”"

Well, it is true that a seven point gap can be overturned within the space of three games. The biggest problem for the Rangers in that case might be their form against Celtic under the management of Van Bronckhorst though.

In five attempts, they have won only one Glasgow Derby during the Dutch manager’s time at Ibrox, while losing three and drawing the other one.
