Rangers have a mountain climb if they are to catch up with Celtic in the Premiership title race. The Hoops are seven points ahead of them already and on top of that, momentum suggests that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side could fall further behind before heading into the World Cup break, as the Ibrox side’s form has shown no signs of an upturn in recent times.

Their fans seem to have turned their backs on the manager as well, with booing at Ibrox a regular sight and Gio Out trending on Twitter after games on several occasions as well.

Thus, Celtic have the chance to increase the gap further in the upcoming two games, although they must be careful and not slip up themselves. Ange Postecoglou’s side have left it late on a number of occasions in recent matches and will hopefully get a couple of commanding results before the World Cup break. But even if that does not turn out to be the case, six points is all that matters.

On the other hand, the Rangers are not being helped by their injury problems. It appears that Fashion Sakala might not be back before the World Cup break. As tweeted out by the club’s official account, Van Bronckhorst said:

"“Fashion has a minor muscle issue from Sunday and will be out for a week and back for sure after the World Cup.”"

Sakala was not involved a lot in the early games this season but recently has gone on to feature quite a bit.

He signed for the club in the summer of 2021, and while his output was decent last season, it has certainly taken a bit of a dip this time around.

Celtic have had their own injury problems as well though, with several key players out at one point or another. But that has not stopped them from piling up the wins and they deserve immense credit for that.
