Celtic have managed to build up quite the impressive squad in several positions during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager. We are seeing the results of that on the pitch, as the Hoops are leading the Premiership by seven points over the Rangers despite the fact that they have had to deal with injury problems to key players throughout the course of the season. That is impressive to say the least.
One such area where the club have a lot of depth right now is goalkeeper. Joe Hart is the number one while he has Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain covering for him. On the other hand, Conor Hazard has had an impressive loan spell at HJK Helsinki, even winning the Finnish league.
Tobi Oluwayemi and Josh Clarke are impressive players coming through the youth ranks right now and might have a chance of being the first-choice in the future.
Thus, it was the right decision to send Vasilis Barkas out on loan to Dutch side, FC Utrecht. It has certainly helped the Greek goalkeeper, who has been one of the best shot-stoppers in the Eredivisie, and looks like a player reborn.
Clubs interested in signing Celtic player permanently
As tweeted out by Giannis Chorianopoulos, FC Utrecht are interested in making the loan deal permanent while other clubs are keeping an eye on the situation as well:
❗Vasilis Barkas has a really good season at FC Utrecht on loan from Celtic (14 matches/5 clean sheets). Utrecht will like to make the transfer permanent (summer 2023) but also other clubs are keep an eye on Greek GK 🟢@CelticFC#CelticFC #Celtic

Barkas was signed from AEK Athens in the summer of 2020 in a big money move and was expected to be the long-term solution to Celtic’s problems between the posts.
He proved to be anything but though, as he struggled for two seasons at Parkhead before being sent out on loan this time around. But after his incredible run there, does he have a future in Glasgow still? That is certainly a question worth asking with Hart being 35 years of age.
