Celtic came out with a 4-2 win over bottom-placed Dundee United, owing to late strikes from Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada. There were no last minute heroics for the Rangers though, who lost 2-1 away from home against St Johnstone, meaning that Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side now sit seven points behind the Hoops.
Naturally, questions have been raised about the Dutch manager’s future. Rumours have been floating about on social media about the likes of Ralph Hasenhuttl, Sean Dyche and even David Martindale being potential replacements.
It is pretty clear that a large section of the Rangers support have given up on Van Bronckhorst. The loud booing at stadiums and the trends of ‘GVB Out’ on social media are proof of that. Yet, it does not look like the Ibrox side are planning to show the Dutchman the exit door anytime soon.
As reported by the Scottish Daily Express, Talksport host Jim White said:
"“We understand that there are no crisis talks planned between the Rangers board and Gio van Bronckhorst.“A Rangers source has told us that they speak every day and nothing will change in that regard.”"
Celtic fans delighted by news about Van Bronckhorst’s Rangers future
It is safe to say that the way things are going, Celtic fans would be happy enough to see Van Bronckhorst continue on at Ibrox. They let their thoughts be known on social media as well.
😂😂😂 If you ask me, I think he should get a pay rise!😜😂 https://t.co/0ShHeT691v

At this point of time, it does feel like Van Bronckhorst is quickly running out of ideas and the manager has even admitted to the pressure in recent times as well.
Rangers continue to slide down in the Premiership table and in many ways, this does feel like Celtic’s campaign from 2020/21, when Neil Lennon did not seem to have an idea about how to stop the Hoops from continuing to drop points.
Of course, things can change very quickly in football and thus, Celtic cannot get too ahead of themselves. There is a lot of football left to be played this season and a long way to go before the league champions are decided.
