Ange Postecoglou might have been an unknown in Europe when he took over as Celtic manager, but they certainly know his name now. The Australian guided the Hoops to a Premiership and League Cup double against all odds last season. This time around, they have made a great start domestically as well, and are leading the Rangers by seven points in the league.
Naturally, clubs down South have taken notice. He was heavily linked with the Brighton & Hove Albion job when Graham Potter left for Chelsea, as well as with Wolves, who sacked Bruno Lage.
Now, it looks like he is being linked with Southampton as well, who showed Ralph Hasenhuttl the exit door recently. Despite being very highly rated, the Austrian was never quite able to match expectations during his time with The Saints. This time around though, Postecoglou does not appear to be one of the frontrunners.
As reported by The Scotsman, bookmakers have placed Postecoglou at 33/1 to be the next Southampton manager. There are names like Nathan Jones, Rafa Benitez, Marcelo Gallardo, Domenico Tedesco, Sean Dyche, Nuno Espirito Santo and others ahead of the Australian manager.
Celtic boss is being linked with another Premier League club
It is safe to say that with the reputation that Postecoglou has built for himself at Celtic, he will always be linked whenever a Premier League club ends up changing managers.
At the same time though, from his comments over the past weeks and months, it does feel like he is very happy at Celtic and at the club for the long run.
Of course, the situation can change and if one of the big six of the Premier League ended up calling, it could potentially be enough to turn his attention and nobody would blame him. But for now, Celtic fans should not worry.
