Things can change very quickly in football and Celtic fans saw a perfect example of that this weekend. Not too long ago, it was looking the Hoops were set to drop points and allow the Rangers a big chance to get back into the title race. Late goals from Kyogo and Liel Abada saved the day for Ange Postecoglou’s side, as they managed to defeat Dundee United 4-2.

There was nobody to do that for the Rangers though, as they ended up losing against St Johnstone away from home and as a result, now find themselves seven points behind Celtic in the league table.

No matter what happens moving forward, Celtic will go into the World Cup break sitting at the top of the table with just two more games to be played before that. On the other hand, there are now big question marks over Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his future at Ibrox.

The Dutchman seems to be struggling to inspire his side. Not only have the performances not improved but the results seem to be on a slide down as well and he is walking a tightrope now. So much so that even Kris Boyd is not sure of his future at the club.

Boyd makes stunning admission as Celtic increase gap

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Boyd said while speaking on Sky Sports after the game:

"“Whenever it comes to that stage it is always the manager that goes.“The club always fins a way if they want to change the manager.“The problem that Gio finds himself in right now is that even when Rangers were winning, or scraping by that everything was still a grind.“There is frustration from the fans. They’ve dropped points at home to Livingston and they were booed off the pitch.“Against Dundee they were booed off at half time and at full time -and now they have dropped more points here at McDiarmid.“The frustration is already there off the back of the European results. I don’t know how much longer he can go on.“Once the fans start voicing their opinions, it’s very difficult to turn.”"

It is true that the Rangers fans do not seem to be backing the manager anymore and there has been audible booing at their games in recent times. Thus, the future looks bleak for the Dutchman.

It is not impossible for him to turn it around from here but the chances slim bleak and the World Cup break might be the ideal time for the Rangers to make a change in the hot seat, if that is what they are looking to do.
