Celtic’s summer signings this time around have not made the same impact that they did last season. That was to be expected though, as the Hoops already have a set team, unlike the previous campaign, when they were trying to build one pretty much from scratch under the management of Ange Postecoglou.

Thus, Postecoglou had to throw players on way before they were ready and credit to them that they stepped up and made a difference. This time around though, the manager has had the luxury to give the summer signings adjust to the team and the tactics, and some of them are now starting to make their mark.

One player that Celtic had been linked with even this summer was Ben Davies. In fact, the Hoops had been linked with him since his days at Preston North End. He would ultimately end up joining the Rangers from Liverpool for a transfer fee believed to be around £4 million, despite never having played a minute for the Reds.

Davies has already had his struggles with injuries at Ibrox, and seems to have picked up another one recently, although it is believed to be a short-term issue this time around. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 11 appearances this season and played 706 minutes of football in total.

Not only has Davies been dealing with injuries but his performances on the pitch do not seem to have been particularly impressive either.

He was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, as his former side Liverpool, put 7 goals past the Rangers at Ibrox.

Incidentally, the Rangers have only won once, when Davies has been on the pitch for 90 minutes, while losing two and drawing the other one.

On the other hand, Celtic do seem to be closing in on signing a centre-back themselves, in the form of Yuki Kobayashi of Vissel Kobe.
