Jota was taken off at half-time in Celtic’s game against St Johnstone with what was thought to be fatigue. Unfortunately, the Portuguese winger has not even made a matchday squad since then and has been a big miss for Ange Postecoglou’s side. Fortunately, the Hoops have been able to rediscover some of their form even without him and scored 14 goals over the past three games.
Yet, there is no doubt about the fact that Celtic are a much better team with Jota in it. There is nobody else in this squad who has his trickery, eye for goal and the ability to pick out his teammates in the final third. The Portuguese winger is a magician capable of pulling a rabbit out of his hat at any moment.
Thus, Celtic fans will be hoping to see him back in action as soon as possible and it looks like their wait might be over pretty soon.
Postecoglou has given an update on the situation of Jota and it is a very positive one. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, the manager said about his star player in a press conference:
"“Jota, again, he sort of had his last rehab session today. So, he is expected to start training with us after tomorrow’s game and be available for the weekend.”"
Postecoglou finally gives positive update on Jota’s Celtic return
As has often been the case throughout his time as Celtic manager, Postecoglou has held his cards close to his chest when it comes to injuries.
Thus, very little has been known about the injury situation of Jota but it is great to hear that he is finally closing in on a return to the pitch.
Celtic’s next game is in the Champions League, when they will welcome Shakhtar Donetsk to Parkhead in midweek. That one will come too early for Jota but he should be fit in time to feature against Livingston at the weekend. It goes without saying that this is great news for the Hoops.
