Celtic have had an interesting season till now. There have been times when they have looked unplayable and others when fans have been left scared by their complete lack of finishing. Over their past 3 games, the Hoops have scored 14 goals. In the 7 games before that, they only managed to find the back of the net 6 times.

One of the major issues that the club have faced this season is that not a lot of their summer signings have made an impact on the first-team, like they did last season.

Moritz Jenz has played quite a bit of football, with the other centre-backs struggling with injury and his form has been up and down. Sead Haksabanovic and Alexandro Bernabei have also impressed at times, but they have not played a lot yet and the sample size is small.

When it comes to Haksabanovic, Oliver Abildgaard and Aaron Mooy, it looks like they were signed keeping the second half of the season in mind and there were no expectations that they would make an impact immediately after arriving.

Ange Postecoglou makes interesting claim about Celtic’s summer signings

As reported by Glasgow Live, Postecoglou said about the signings of Haksabanovic, Abildgaard and Mooy:

"“For me, Oliver, Aaron (Mooy) and Sead (Haksabanovic) were signings for the back half of the year.“Anything we got out of them this first half of the year was going to be a bonus for us. When you miss pre-season, it is a very difficult thing to come in and hit the ground running.“Feel good about your physical fitness and your football. What we are getting out of those guys just now is a real bonus.“Second half of the year is when they will be able to show their true selves. Oliver is doing really well. He is doing a job for us. He is getting fitter and I am sure he will make more of a contribution.”"

It is safe to say that Celtic have been doing well enough even without the summer signings making a big contribution.

Their big problem has without doubt been injuries. Just like last season, the squad has been marred by one injury after another.

The difference this time around is that Postecoglou does have quite a few options to put on the pitch and is not relying on having to play people out of position in order to put out an eleven on the field.

Hopefully, the likes of Haksabanovic, who is already looking very good, Mooy and Abildgaard will come into their own in the second half of the campaign.
