Celtic booked their ticket to Hampden Park in style with a 4-0 win over Motherwell in the quarter final of the Scottish League Cup. Liel Abada got himself a brace on the night, Reo Hatate showed some majestic feet to get one himself and Kyogo Furuhashi finally ended his hoodoo infront of goal and will be hoping that that will open the flood gates for him once again.

Celtic had been struggling to score goals in recent times but over the past two games, against Hibernian and Motherwell, they have managed to put the ball into the back of the net on ten occasions.

Thus, while they are still a bit wasteful with their chances, it does feel like their barren run in front of goal might be behind them and we can once again expect some brilliant attacking football from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Motherwell manager, Steven Hammell, pretty much admitted that his side could not cope with the level that Celtic are at. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“We’ve come up against a very good team, there’s no getting away from that, it’s a team that’s on a certain level that we can’t compete with.”"

It is safe to say that Celtic were the better side on the night and deserved the result. They could have put the game to bed in the first half itself if they had taken their chances and that is an area that still needs work. Overall though, they should be happy with the display.

The club have been drawn with Kilmarnock in the semi-final of the League Cup while in the other semi-final, Aberdeen will take on the Rangers at Hampden Park. Thus, their could be a Glasgow Derby in the final.

Let’s see how the upcoming games play out. Celtic will play Hearts in the Premiership next, before welcoming Shakhtar Donetsk to Parkhead in the Champions League.
