Coming into the match against Hibernian, the pressure was on Celtic. The Hoops had just lost to RB Leipzig to end their hopes of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League and were in the middle of a nightmare run of form that not many people would have seen coming. They had won just two of their previous seven games while losing four. Even more worryingly though, they had just scored six goals over that period of time.

Simply put, Ange Postecoglou’s side had not been good enough and had been let down time after time by their finishing, as they could not convert their chances in front of goal.

Against Hibernian, they looked back at their swaggering best though and put six goals past the visitors, in what felt like a statement performance after receiving so much criticism leading upto the game.

Hibernian manager, Lee Johnson, was not happy with the manner in which his side lost the game to Celtic, and admitted that they could have conceded ten goals. As reported by the Daily Record, he said:

"“Let’s not take away from Celtic – who have fantastic individual brilliance and they’re a fantastic team – but we’re not 6-1 away. On Saturday we were, and it could have been 10. That’s the bit that I’m now curious about. I was angry after the game because I felt we let everyone down but I’m now very curious.”"

Johnson has been very vocal about the mentality of his side going into games against teams like Celtic and the Rangers.

And there might very well be something to Johnson’s theory, as the two Glasgow giants have dominated the Scottish game for a long, long time.

So, it is understandable if a lot of players are intimidated by the prospect of coming up against them. At the same time though, one cannot take away from the fact that Celtic have a superior squad to that of Hibernian and arrived on the day with a point to prove. On another day, the result might have been a bit closer than that.
