Celtic fans will be very familiar with Leicester City, as it is the club that Brendan Rodgers ended up joining when he left in the middle of the campaign some years back. Well, things are not going so smoothly for the Northern Irish manager this season though, as he finds the Foxes in the relegation zone and is in danger of being potentially shown the exit door unless things improve fast.
One of the main reasons that Leicester City have struggled this season is because of the fact that they have not improved their squad much in recent times, while losing key players.
This summer was a perfect example when Wesley Fofana and Kasper Schmeichel, two major stars left and were not properly replaced. Thus, their struggles might not come as a huge surprise to those who have been paying attention for a while.
Leicester City do seem to have plans to improve their squad moving forward though and appear to have their eyes on an impressive Celtic star to do so.
Leicester City could make January move for Celtic star
As reported by the Daily Mail (via The Scotsman), Leicester City sent a scout to watch Matt O’Riley in action against RB Leipzig in the Champions League last week. They could look to make a mid-season move during the winter transfer window.
Of course, several other clubs have been linked with a potential move for O’Riley as well, as he looks to be a man in demand. In fact, names like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund are rumoured to hold an interest in the midfielder.
When he joined Celtic from English League One side, MK Dons, there were a lot of question marks about whether he could perform at this level. It has not taken O’Riley long to answer that question and now, when he does eventually leave Parkhead, it might be for a transfer fee north of £15 million.
