Celtic have signed a lot of players from Japan in recent times, as Ange Postecoglou, who was the manager of Yokohama F. Marinos before arriving in Glasgow, has used his expertise of J League, to bring some top talents to Parkhead. Of course, there have been hits and misses, but overall, the fans should be very happy with the signings.

But way before the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi, Celtic had their Japanese superstar in Shunsuke Nakamura.

An incredible player on top of his game, Nakamura wrote his name into the history books for Celtic on multiple occasions, at the biggest of stages. And incredibly, he has continued to play to this day, but not for much longer.

As reported by The Japan Times, Nakamura, currently at Yokohama FC in the J. League second division, is set to retire at the end of the season. He is 44 years of age now.

Nakamura certainly had an incredible career which saw him play not only for a club like Celtic but also in Italy and Spain.

It goes without saying that he made his mark at Parkhead and will always be fondly remembered by the Hoops fans for his wand of a left foot, that like Steph Curry, did not know a range of shooting, and he could score from anywhere.

His goals against the likes of Rangers and Manchester United will continue to be replayed and talked about forever.

We would like to congratulate Shunsuke on what was a remarkable career and hope that he finds just as much success in whatever it is that he decides to do after hanging up his boots. A truly unique talent, there has never been quite anyone like him at Celtic, before or after him.
