Since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou as manager, Celtic’s approach to everything, both on and off the pitch, has seemed to become far more efficient. Perhaps the disaster that was the 2020/21 campaign served as a wake up call to many at Parkhead. The changes since then have been quite positive.
And recently, rumours broke out that the club were ready to make an improvement in their recruitment department, by bringing in Steve Hitchen in an advisory role to Ange Postecoglou.
Hitchen has a wealth of experience. He was a scout for Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur early on in his career, and is believed to have been instrumental in moves for the likes of Luis Suarez and Luka Modric. He would return to the London club later on as chief scout and went on to become Director of Technical Performance for them, a role he would leave earlier this year.
Other than that, he has also had roles at QPR and Derby County. Thus, someone like Hitchen could have been a valuable addition to Celtic but it looks like there is nothing to the rumours after all.
Celtic do not seem to be looking to add Hitchen to backroom team
As reported by CeltsAreHere, Hitchen is not being lined up by the club or by Postecoglou, and the reports are wide of the mark.
Also, as reported by The Celtic Star, Celtic are not on the verge of bringing in the former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool transfer guru.
So, it looks like Hitchen will not be heading to Parkhead to work with Postecoglou after all and the rumours had nothing to them. Of course, it is nothing to be worried about as Celtic have been abolutely brilliant when it comes to the recruitment side of things over the past year or so.
