Celtic finally returned to form and beat Hibernian by a 6-1 scoreline. That is the same number of goals that the club had scored in the previous seven games before this combined. Thus, the fans would be hoping that the ship has been steadied and they will carry on in the right direction after this display.

0ne man who deserves special praise for his performance on the day is James Forrest, who scored a hattrick on the day. It also meant that he has now scored 100 goals for Celtic, becoming only the 30th player in history to do so.

It goes without saying that that is quite an achievement for Forrest, who has had to face a lot of struggles over the past three seasons, with both form and fitness. In fact, the start of Celtic’s decline in the 2020/21 campaign can be traced back to his injury.

While a lot of fans and a large part of the media had written Forrest off, Ange Postecoglou had never done so, and the manager reaped the rewards for his patience with the hattrick against Hibernian to get the campaign back on track. And understandably, the Australian seemed to be delighted.

Postecoglou makes big statement after Celtic star shines

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Postecoglou told BBC Radio Scotland after the game;

"“I knew James at some point this year would be an important player for us. He’s been chipping away at it, he hasn’t had a lot of game time. But over the last few weeks, every time he’s come on he’s made an impact. He was ready today and I know there’s more to come.”"

For years, Forrest had been one of Celtic’s best and most consistent players but that has not been the case in recent times, largely due to the fact that he has barely been available, due to his injuries. Naturally, many have managed to move ahead of him in the pecking order.

Forrest showed with his performance against Hibernian though that class is permanent. Yes, there might have been an element of luck involved in the goals, but then, you make your own luck. They all count as long as they go in, as Celtic fans will know very well after seeing the Bhoys miss chance after chance in recent times.
