Celtic go into the game against RB Leipzig at Parkhead knowing that anything other than a win would spell disaster for their hopes of qualifying to the knockout phase of the Champions League and would even be a major blow for their chances of making it into the Europa League by finishing third in their group.
On the other hand, RB Leipzig must be riding high having picked up a 3-1 win over Celtic in Germany last midweek and they must be hungry for more.
Considering Celtic’s lack of form at the moment, as well as the fact that they struggled to handle RB Leipzig going forward in their previous encounter, and one would have to regard the Bundesliga giants as the favourites going into this contest.
And they have been handed a major boost ahead of it as well. As reported by BBC, Timo Werner has recovered from illness.
RB Leipzig have been handed Werner boost ahead of facing Celtic
Werner might not have scored against Celtic when the two sides met in Germany but he is a player that the Hoops will have to keep an eye on.
Werner was an absolute superstar for RB Leipzig during his first stint at the club before moving to Chelsea.
There, he might have won a lot of silverware, including the UEFA Champions League itself, but Werner did struggle with his individual form and could not find the back of the net, like he used to for fun in Germany.
After a couple of seasons in London, he has re-joined RB Leipzig and will be looking to rediscover his mojo, especially with the World Cup coming up later this year.
Thus, with a point to prove, he would be looking to find the back of the net against Celtic and it is up to the Hoops to stop the German international star.
