Celtic have done a wonderful job when it comes to picking out and signing players under the management of Ange Postecoglou. A number of them have gone on to establish themselves as first-team stars for the Hoops. Naturally, clubs from down South are expected to come calling sooner or later.

When Celtic decided to sign Matt O’Riley from MK Dons, a lot of fans were not convinced. While he was doing well, the fact of the matter was that he was playing League One football and there were doubts whether he could make the jump in quality and adjust to the Premiership.

Well, the transition has been smoother than anybody could have expected and O’Riley has already been linked with a move to clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Leicester City. And now, it looks like another Premier League club have joined the race to sign him.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Crystal Palace are eyeing a big-money move for O’Riley and the Eagles’ top scout Dougie Freedman watched the midfielder against RB Leipzig in midweek.

It is safe to say that there is quite some interest in the signature of O’Riley, who has done better than anybody could have anticipated when he arrived and is already a regular starter.

In fact, there is a good possibility that he could be on the plane to Qatar to represent the Denmark national team at the World Cup later this year.

For the time being, Celtic does feel like the right place for O’Riley to develop his game further and most people expect him to get a big move in the future. It is believed that the Hoops would look for a transfer fee north of £20 million to let him go.

Crystal Palace have done business with Celtic in recent times, having signed Odsonne Edouard in the summer of 2021.
