It is safe to say that Callum McGregor is one of the most important players in this Celtic team, if not the most important. While he might not be involved in a lot of the flashy stuff and as a result, often stays away from the headlines, there is no doubt that he is the heart and soul of the Hoops, and the one who makes them tick from the middle of the park.
McGregor is an excellent player and the leader of this side as well, who has already proven himself as a captain by guiding them to the Premiership title in his first season with the arm band.
Thus, when he suffered an injury against RB Leipzig, alarm bells started ringing around Parkhead. And unfortunately, it looks like this could be a serious issue which keeps him out of action for a while.
As reported by Glasgow Live, the midfielder has been spotted in a knee brace. Now, it remains to be seen how long he will be out for.
Celtic captain spotted in knee brace after suffering injury vs RB Leipzig
McGregor being out for any considerable length of time is going to be a major blow for Celtic but unfortunately, it looks like that will turn out to be the case.
It is believed that he will be seeing a specialist regarding his knee injury and Ange Postecoglou’s comments since the game vs RB Leipzig have done nothing in allaying the fears of Celtic fans regarding the matter.
Celtic do not really have a like for like replacement for McGregor in the team right now and a lot of players might have to step up to the plate and raise their games in his absence. The club do have some options like Oliver Abildgaard, James McCarthy and Aaron Mooy.
