Celtic have been struggling with injuries this season, something that they would not have expected after adding to their squad depth all over the pitch. But that is just the reality of the situation and key players like Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt have been out in recent weeks. On the other hand, the name of Callum McGregor was added to the injury list after he picked up a problem against RB Leipzig, and there are fears that it could be serious.

Thus, it is doom and gloom around Parkhead at the moment, with so many injuries to deal with and just one win from their previous five games.

There was some reason to be positive though as Cameron Carter-Vickers emerged once again. He had been injured in the game vs Shakhtar Donetsk.

As reported by the Daily Record, Carter-Vickers was back in a major way as he pushed the pace during a variety of training drills. There’s no guarantee that he’ll be on the pitch for the visit to St Johnstone, but his return is a big positive without a shadow of a doubt.

Celtic handed massive boost as star finally returns to training

Celtic have struggled in the absence of Carter-Vickers at the back. Unfortunately, his defensive partners, Starfelt, has been out of action as well at the same time.

Thus, Celtic have had to rely on the combination of Moritz Jenz and Stephen Welsh, and the duo have not been brilliant together to be very honest.

Of course, the story has looked very different when they have played beside Carter-Vickers. The American defender is a calming presence at the back and without him, Celtic certainly lose a lot of composure and shape.

Hopefully, his return to the pitch, whenever it ends up happening, will bring back some much needed balance to this side.
