Callum McGregor has been on quite the journey at Celtic, going from ball boy to the captain of the Hoops. And now, he will be looking to become one of the few skippers in the club’s modern history to guide them to the knockout phase of the Champions League. While it will be a difficult task, it is by no means impossible.

In that regard, the upcoming game against RB Leipzig will be very vital. If Celtic can get a win, or even a draw, away in Germany, it will set them up brilliantly for what is to come after that.

On the other hand, a defeat will leave them with just one point from their first three games in the group stage, leaving qualification hopes hanging by a thread. So, it is important that Ange Postecoglou’s side get something out of this away trip to Germany.

One player who has already played at RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena is McGregor, when Celtic lost 2-0 to the German side back in 2018 in the Europa League group stage. And he is aware that the Hoops will be facing a tough task. As reported by The Scottish Sun, he said:

"“It will be a real good atmosphere. You can see behind the goal there’s a standing section too. They will be right up for the game.“In the context of the group, they have to win to stay alive, so I don’t think the players will be under any illusions Leipzig will have a quick start.“They will come at us and it’s about us being composed and trying to implement our style into the game.”"

A lot could end up depending on how Celtic handle the expected early pressure from RB Leipzig, who know that they need to win on this occasion to keep their qualification hopes alive.

In most games, it is Celtic who have come out of the blocks firing on all cylinders, so it will be very interesting to see how they deal with it, when the shoe is on the other foot.

It must be said that this is going to be a very good game of football unless something unexpected ends up happening.
