Celtic recently lost one of their biggest talents in the form of Ben Doak to Liverpool. The youngster was very highly rated at Parkhead and seemed to have a clear path into the first-team, which was evident from the fact that he was handed a couple of appearances even as a 16-year-old, with one of them coming in the Glasgow Derby vs the Rangers.

But even that was not enough to convince Doak to remain at his boyhood club, as he decided to make the move down South in order to join Celtic.

Interestingly, Scotland has become one of the favourite scouting spot of Premier League clubs in recent times and the success of players like Andy Robertson, Kieran Tierney, John McGinn and several others has certainly helped in that regard. Of course, that is often bad news for the clubs who are losing their top talents to the glitz and glamour of the English top flight.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, recently had some words of praise for Celtic and also pointed out Doak as a big talent. As reported by The Scotsman, he said:

"“Celtic are doing really well and the Scotland game is full of talent. We have another Scottish boy in Calvin and another big talent in the under-18s (Doak), so it’s a cool place to scout again.”"

Doak certainly has done his reputation no harm by moving to Liverpool. Many wondered how he would fit into the youth football there but he has seemed to face no problems.

On the contrary, he is playing some terrific football at this point of time and it might not be too long before he starts to get a knock from the first-team and makes his debut for the Liverpool first-team.

Of course, Celtic would have preferred for Doak to remain at Parkhead and continue his development at the club. But it is what it is. Hopefully, the Hoops will have better luck holding onto talent in the future.
