Christopher Jullien’s Celtic career took a sad turn after what had been a truly brilliant first season in the Hoops. Following a £7 million transfer move from Toulouse, he had helped the club on their way to the Quadruple Treble, even scoring the League Cup winning goal vs the Rangers in the 2019/20 campaign and had a few other memorable moments to his name as well.

Things would go completely off the track after that though. Jullien started the 2020/21 campaign struggling with what was believed to be a back injury. His absence was one of the biggest reasons behind Celtic’s struggles at the back.

Jullien would end up making a return to action and was playing well before suffering an even more serious injury when he collided with the post while trying to prevent a goal. That would keep him out of action for over a year and he never managed to gain his place back in the team.

Jullien barely featured under the management of Ange Postecoglou and would complete a move to Montpellier this summer. But despite that, the Frenchman had pretty positive things to say about the Celtic manager. As reported by the Daily Record, the defender told the Ligue 1 website:

"“Even though I didn’t play last season and it was complicated on a human level with coach Ange Postecoglou, I learned a lot. He is a coach who relies a lot on video and who tries to get into the opponent’s head.“Thanks to this, I realised that when you push the opposing team to do exactly what they don’t want, you can outwit them to an unimaginable extent. It’s like playing chess. If the opposing team can’t find a parry, you’re in for a treat.“That’s why I think I’ve become more tactically savvy. But I always try to improve on this aspect.”"

Jullien has surprisingly positive things to say about Celtic boss despite not playing much

For someone who made just one appearance under the management of Postecoglou and that too as a substitute, Jullien did have a lot of positive things to say about the Celtic manager.

It is sad how things ended up for him at Celtic, especially since the injury that he suffered was while trying to prevent a goal.

We can only wish him the best of luck at Montpellier and hope that he gets his career back on track. At 29 years of age, he should have plenty of football left in the tank.
