Celtic have a must not lose game coming up in the Champions League against RB Leipzig. The Hoops will travel to Germany to take on the Bundesliga giants, with one point from their first two games. They had nothing to show for a spirited performance against Real Madrid and their dominant display vs Shakhtar Donetsk only earned them a 1-1 draw away in Warsaw.
Now, Celtic can most probably afford a draw against RB Leipzig. But a defeat would pretty much end their hopes of making it to the knockout phase of the competition. They would certainly be left with a mountain to climb with one point from three games and an away trip to Real Madrid to go.
Thus, Celtic will surely be looking to put in a big performance against RB Leipzig and hopefully come out with all three points on the day. Unfortunately, they have some key players missing at the moment.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt are two of them. And while the Swedish international is ruled out from the upcoming game, it looks like there is a chance that the American star could still make it.
As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Ange Postecoglou told Celtic TV:
"“After the weekend’s game, everyone got through it really well from a physical standpoint which is important. We’re still waiting on Cameron, to see how he is. Carl Starfelt misses out. Apart from that, everyone seems to be in a good shape physically.”"
Celtic star still not ruled out completely from RB Leipzig game
It is really hard to judge the situation of Carter-Vickers. If he is not fully fit, it would not be a smart move to risk him against RB Leipzig.
At the same time though, Postecoglou does a very good job when it comes to holding his cards close to his chest when it comes to the fitness of players. Just look at the saga involving Kyogo ahead of the League Cup final.
Thus, do not be surprised to see the name of Carter-Vickers in the matchday squad vs RB Leipzig. But at the same time, it is very possible that he might not make it.
