Celtic managed to just get past Motherwell by a 2-1 scoreline. Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate were on the scoreboard for the Hoops while an own goal from Josip Juranovic made it closer than it needed to be. Callum McGregor even had to take a red card for the team late on in the game so that they could hold onto the three points.

It does bring to an end a 3-game winless streak though and hopefully, it will open up the flood gates for Celtic. Their next test is set to be much tougher though, as they travel to Germany to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

RB Leipzig have not had the greatest start to the campaign themselves but they did prepare for Celtic in style with a 4-0 win over VfL Bochum. Timo Werner and Christopher Nkunku both scored braces. Just for context though, their opponents are at the bottom of the Bundesliga table and have not won a game yet, drawn one and lost seven.

Celtic have been offered some hope that Cameron Carter-Vickers could be fit in time for the game against RB Leipzig, although chances still seem slim. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Ange Postecoglou said:

"“Cameron got some treatment again and will get some on Sunday.“We will see how he is Monday and Tuesday and make a decision.“He is not far away but we have another 12 games in 40-odd days.“So I am NOT going to put him in unless he is absolutely right because it would be silly of us to put him in and then lose him for another few games.“Particularly with Carl Starfelt out for at least another couple of weeks.“Cam’s pretty good. If he is ready to play he’ll put his hand up, I don’t need to question that.“But we have got to make sure we make the right decision. We will give him every chance.”"

Celtic handed Carter-Vickers hope heading into game against RB Leipzig

Carter-Vickers is arguably the most important part of this Celtic side and that has become clear in his absence.

Celtic need him back as soon as possible, because Carl Starfelt is out injured at the moment as well, and that is far from ideal.

The duo of Stephen Welsh and Moritz Jenz has not looked the most impressive and one can only wonder if they would be able to deal with the forwards of RB Leipzig or not. Let’s hope that Carter-Vickers is able to make his comeback in time for the game.

More. Celtic fans will be delighted by Liel Abada’s comments. light
