Celtic midfielder agrees contract extension till 2025
Celtic have a lot to be happy about when it comes to their first-team squad at the moment. Over the course of three transfer windows under the management of Ange Postecoglou, the Hoops have been able to rebuild a squad that had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers into the most complete in all of Scotland, and by some distance.
Of course, while signing new players is well and good, the club must keep an eye on their developmental ranks as well. They have not been successful in bringing through many players into the first-team in recent years.
One of the biggest reasons for that is the fact that clubs from around Europe have swooped in and signed most of Celtic’s best youth players before they can even make their mark in the first-team picture. The most recent example of this is Ben Doak, who is now thriving in the developmental ranks at Liverpool.
The Hoops seem determined to keep hold of their best youngsters though. And as announced on Celtic’s official website, they have agreed a new contract extension for Ben Summers, with the midfielder committing his future to the club until 2025.
Celtic have agreed contract extension with midfielder until 2025
It would be safe to say that Summers is one of the most highly-rated youth stars at Celtic right now. Thus, this is a great move on the part of the club.
He joined the club back in 2011 when he was just 7 years of age and has come up through the ranks since then, and will surely be hoping to make it into the first-team picture at some point of time.
The 18-year-old currently plays for the Celtic B team in the Lowland League. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in 9 Lowland League appearances this season.
