Celtic boss makes interesting comments about his future
The future of Ange Postecoglou has been a topic of heavy discussion amongst Celtic fans in recent times. He has been linked with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion as well as Leicester City just this month. That goes on to show the kind of impact that the Hoops’ performances under his management have had and clubs down South certainly have taken notice as well.
For the time being, he seems to be very happy at Celtic. But the rumours linking him away from the club just refuse to go away. Every time a Premier League club sack their manager over the course of the season, there is a good chance that Postecoglou’s name will be thrown into the mix as a potential candidate.
There is also an understanding amongst the Celtic fanbase that Postecoglou will make the move down South some time in the future. But, one would be hoping that that is a long time in the future.
Postecoglou himself has opened up that he still has things that he wants to conquer. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic boss told 10 Football:
"“I’ll always go where the challenge is greatest and I still have some stuff I want to conquer.“But I am 57, to be fair. I’m not 47 or 37, so there are limited years ahead of me.“There is a run to the finish line and I want to make sure when I get there that I have done everything I wanted to do. There are still some horizons I need to conquer!”"
What do Postecoglou’s comments mean for his Celtic future?
It is safe to say that Celtic fans will be hoping that Postecoglou stays at the club as long as possible. It is hard to think about anybody else who could have such an impact in such a small window of time.
But what do his comments mean regarding his future at Parkhead? Well, they are certainly hard to get a read on.
On one hand, he has made no secret in the past of his ambition to turn Celtic into regulars in the Champions League. At the same time though, judging from these comments, it feels like he has other challenges in his sight as well.
