Celtic have done a wonderful job when it comes to their recruitment under the management of Ange Postecoglou. The manager seems to have a clear idea of the players who fit into his system and while every move has not worked out, the Hoops have been successful in unearthing a lot of gems.

One such player is Matt O’Riley. When the club signed him from League One side, MK Dons, in January for a transfer fee believed to be around £1.5 million, a lot of people were not convinced. Yes, he had been playing some good football but at the end of the day, it was in the English third tier.

Well, O’Riley has already proven himself during his time at Celtic and is in with a real shot of actually making Denmark’s World Cup squad. That just goes on to show his rise in such a short span of time.

Naturally, he is attracting a lot of interest from down South as well. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Newcastle United ran the rule over O’Riley this week, as Magpies scouts saw the Celtic star open the scoring for Denmark Under-21s against the Croatia Under-21s.

Of course, Newcastle United are not the only club believed to be interested in O’Riley. In the summer, he was heavily linked with a move to Leicester City, while the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund were also rumoured to be keeping an eye on his situation.

It is safe to say that that is some high-profile interest in the player, who seems to be destined for a big move sooner or later.

At the moment though, Celtic might be the best place for O’Riley to develop his game further, as he is getting regular football in a side that suits him and competing for titles at the same time.
