This international break has brought one headache after the other for Celtic fans, in terms of injuries. At the moment, three of their players have raised injury concerns and unfortunately, all three of them operate in the final third of the pitch – Giorgos Giakoumakis, Daizen Maeda and Sead Haksabanovic.

Thus, it is safe to say that there is a possibility that their options up top could be reduced drastically coming out of the international break. It remains to be seen how serious the injuries are though.

Greek international manager, Gus Poyet, has given an update on the situation of Giakoumakis, who was left out of the matchday squad for their game against Northern Ireland. And while it does not appear to be a very serious problem, he might end up missing this weekend’s clash.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, when asked about Giakoumakis’ absence, Poyet said on the Greece national team’s YouTube channel:

"“He had a small problem, and we couldn’t risk him.“I don’t know how long. I think it’s not going to be long out, but if you ask me now, I don’t think he will play at the weekend in Scotland. So, he was not fit to play.”"

It is safe to say that Celtic fans would be hoping that Giakoumakis is back fit and available as soon as possible.

He is a key part of this side even though he might not be a regular starter at the moment, with Kyogo keeping his place in the team.

At the same time though, it must be pointed out that Kyogo is going through a bit of a goal drought at the moment, which might have opened the doors for the Greek striker to start more games coming out of the international break. But now, it remains to be seen when we will see him back in action next. Hopefully it will be very soon.

Unfortunately, this injury has also come at a time when Celtic are struggling to find the back of the net, and have scored just once over their past three games and that too was an own goal.
