Celtic have shown an incredible eye for talent since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou. The manager seems to have a clear eye for players who will fit into his system of football. Of course, not every move has worked out and you cannot expect them to. But overall, the recruitment has been a grand success and the Hoops have brought in great players like Kyogo, Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Reo Hatate, Matt O’Riley, Cameron Carter-Vickers and several others.

Another player that they had been linked with recently is Garang Kuol of the Central Coast Mariners. The youngster has taken Australian football by storm.

At 18 years of age, he has already represented the A League All Stars against Barcelona and has been called up to the Australian national team squad as well. Thus, the sky looks like the limit for Kuol. Thus, it should come as a surprise that Celtic have had an eye on him. But unfortunately, it looks like Newcastle United are set to win the race for his signature.

As tweeted out by Anthony Joseph, Newcastle United are close to finalising a deal to sign Kuol from Central Coast Mariners, while Celtic and Borussia Dortmund had showed an interest in him as well:

Celtic have lost the Kuol race to Newcastle United

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kuol has scored 4 goals and provided 1 assist in 10 appearances for Central Coast Mariners, while playing just 199 minutes of football.

Thus, it is safe to say that Celtic are set to lose the race to sign a prodigy to Newcastle United. That is a blow in itself.

At the same time, it is safe to assume that most Celtic fans are not fond of Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe, who turned down the chance to manage the Hoops after the saga had dragged on for months.

Celtic fans finish ahead of Rangers, Real Madrid and Liverpool. light. Related Story
