It would be safe to assume that Ange Postecoglou is not enjoying this international break as one Celtic player after another seems to be sparking injury fears. First it was Giorgos Giakoumakis of Greece, then it was Daizen Maeda of Japan and now, a third name has been added to the list, which is growing rapidly.

The player is none other than Sead Haksabanovic. He was signed from Rubin Kazan towards the end of the summer transfer window and is not completely up to match speed, as a result of missing pre-season. Thus, he has remained restricted to cameos.

Haksabanovic did feature for the Montenegro national team in their recent game against Finland, and unfortunately, it did not go as well as he would have been hoping.

As reported by Football Scotland, Haksabanovic suffered injury and was subbed off after just 30 minutes in Montenegro’s clash with Finland this evening. The Celtic star was on the end of a robust challenge and could not continue.

With the recent concerns around the fitness of Giakoumakis and Maeda, many people would have thought that this could have opened the door of opportunity for Haksabanovic to step and make his case for a spot in the team.

But now, it looks like he has picked up an injury as well, although it is still unclear how serious it is and how long it will keep him out of action for.

Celtic will be hoping that it is nothing serious, because they are seeing their options going forward diminish rapidly at the moment.

Also, the club have not won any of their last three games and as a result, this is not looking like a good situation for Celtic, and could allow the Rangers to sneak back into the title race despite of their terrible start to the campaign.
