Celtic star misses training in massive injury concern
The last thing that Celtic need at the moment is an injury blow. The club have not won in three games, losing against Real Madrid and St Mirren, while drawing against Shakhtar Donetsk. As a result, the lead at the top of the Premiership has been cut to two points while they will need to almost be perfect in Europe if they are to make it through to the knockout phase of the Champions League.
Unfortunately, the Hoops already have injury problems, with both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt, their first-choice centre-back pairing from last season, out of action right now.
It looks like there is a concern surrounding Giorgos Giakoumakis as well. Rumours had risen that the Greek striker had felt uncomfortable and undergone a scan recently, although nothing showed up on it. And now, it appears that he has missed training with his national side, in what will be a worry for Celtic for sure.
As tweeted out by Giannis Chorianopoulos, Giakoumakis didn’t make training with the team today and he followed a personal programme, as it is unknown whether he will be available in their upcoming game vs Northern Ireland:
Celtic have been handed a major injury concern during the international break
It goes without saying that Giakoumakis is a very important player for Celtic at this point of time, especially with Kyogo going on a bit of a goal drought over the past few weeks.
As a result, Giakoumakis is a player that Postecoglou could have easily relied on to provide the goals, something that he has done consistently since the turn of the year, after undergoing a difficult start at Celtic.
Now, it remains to be seen how serious his injury actually is. The initial feeling was that there was nothing to be scared of and hopefully, that will remain the case.
